Hair Color Trend: Ronze is the New Red (And Brown)
Posted on February 24, 2016
It's so beautiful when two ideas that are good on their own join together to create something even more awesome. From brunch to Brookies, smizing to frenemies (okay, maybe not so much that last one), we are fully surrounded by things that are greater than the sum of their parts.
It's a fact that is especially true in the beauty world. First there was " Foilyage," which combined the traditional foil technique with hand painted balayage highlights to make hair brighter at the ends. This past summer, Pinterest was flooded with pictures of women going "bronde," a sun kissed and low maintenance mixture of ashy brown and blonde. Now, redheads are getting in on the fun with a new color craze!
It's called Ronze, a coppery mix of red and bronze, and if you've been watching celebs walk the red carpet this season, you've definitely spotted this trend more than a few times.
Those who love red hair are raving about this new mix of tones because of the way it brightens up the complexion. Unlike orange-based reds or deeper, wine-like hair colors, the earthy mix of browns that are visible in ronze dyejobs appear more natural, warm and flattering.
The best part? It’s possible to find a ronze shade that will work for anybody, whether they have cool or warm undertones.
Those with complexions that are olive or darker can get away with a cool, deep shade of ronze with blue undertones, while natural brunettes will want to accentuate the warm tones of their hair with amber highlights.
Fair-skinned women can aim for the brightest reds with a saturated, coppery feel. Already a natural redhead? You can easily achieve this look with a brown gloss, which will act like the perfect Instagram filter for your hair. You are now officially ready for your selfie.
Because of the complex mixture of tones required to achieve the ronze look, this is one job that’s difficult achieve at home. To pull this trend off with confidence, see a professional colorist who can mix up the perfect shade to work with your natural hair color and skin tone.
And a warning: fading color will cause your hair to look too orange or blue, so wash as little as possible ( dry shampoo is your friend) and when you do cleanse, use a formula intended for color treated locks.
